Terms and Conditions for Boarding and Day Care

MEET AND GREET

Prior to a meet and greet, we will arrange a suitable time with you to have a telephone conversation, learn more about your dog and answer any questions you may have.  We can then decide whether to progress to a meeting.

A meet and greet must take place prior to any booking (this is a licensing requirement)

This is mutually beneficial.  We can consider whether our home is the right environment for your dog and for you to feel confident leaving your dog with us.

We do not charge for this meeting and are happy for you to take some time afterwards to decide if you wish to use our services,  however availability for the chosen dates will remain open until a deposit is paid.

If we decline to progress to a booking, we will explain our reasons why and do our best to sign post you to other providers who may be better suited to care for your dog.

Health

Dogs attending Lenny’s Friends must have up to date vaccinations for Canine Parvovirus, Canine distemper, Infectious canine hepatitis and leptospirosis.

Kennel cough vaccine is desirable and must’ve been administered at least 2 weeks prior to attendance.

The record of this, ie Vaccination card or email of medical record from your Vet practice, must be provided prior to any attendance for day care or trial night boarding.  If you are unable to provide this prior to attendance, your booking will be cancelled and you will lose your deposit.

Males over 18 months must be neutered

Females must not be in, or due a season when attending for either day care or boarding. If your dog displays signs of being in season during a visit, you or your emergency contact will be asked to collect her.

Dogs must be regularly treated for fleas and worms ie monthly or 3 monthly, as per the instructions on your chosen product.

Dogs over 6 months must be fully toilet trained to go outside. Scent marking in the house will not be tolerated.  If an adult dog continues to toilet within the home, you or your emergency contact will be asked to collect them.

Dogs must be in good health (relevant to their age) to attend. Ongoing conditions requiring medication or limited exercise, can be discussed prior to Meet and Greet.

Behaviour

If at any point during a trial visit, Day care or Boarding stay your dog displays unacceptable behaviour, we reserve the right to contact you or your emergency contact to remove your dog.

Being outside of their normal home environment without their people, can be stressful for your dog and may cause them to behave differently to how they would at home. We do not take the decision lightly to ask for a dog to be removed and will only do so if deemed absolutely necessary to maintain the safety of all our canine guests and family.

If your dog has any known behavioural issues (including those mentioned below) that could affect our safety or that of dogs in our care,  this must be disclosed at the time of enquiry.

Examples of unacceptable behaviour

Aggression towards other dogs which goes beyond a warning growl

Aggression towards people

Persistent barking or howling which causes a noise nuisance

Causes damage to property

Causes stress to other dogs by continued attempts to hump or dominate

Continued attempts to escape the home or garden such as digging under or attempting to get over fences or jumping dog gates within the home.

Does not respond to basic commands such as sit, stay, or to recall within the home or garden

Unable to be controlled safely on walks. Please remember we are walking more than one dog at a time, so your dog must be able to walk nicely and with others.

Examples below

Aggressive to other dogs, barking, lunging and attempts to fight

Pulls excessively on a lead

Highly reactive to bicycles, traffic, livestock, joggers or sounds resulting in lunging, barking, lead chewing or any other attempts to escape.

Payments and Refunds

Ad hoc day care bookings must be paid for at the time of booking. No refunds on cancellation without 7 days notice. If Illness or emergency prevents us from being able to care for your dog, payment will be refunded.

Regular day care ie 4 or 8 sessions per month, must be paid for in advance by the 1st of every month.

For boarding bookings beyond 24 hours, a 25% non refundable deposit is required following a successful meet and greet and the booking being accepted. Full payment is required 48 hours hours prior to attendance. Until a deposit is paid the booking is not confirmed and the dates remain open for other customers.

The deposit will only be refunded if Lenny’s Friends are unable to complete your booking due to the following.

A: Illness or Emergency which prevents us from being able to care for your dogs. In which case all payments will be refunded.

B: If a day care trial or trial overnight stay has to be terminated for the following reasons:

Your dog is unable to settle due to own stress which presents a welfare concern.

Your dog displays unacceptable behaviour (please see Behaviour section)

**The trial night or day care fee for that visit will not be refunded, only the deposit paid for a longer booking**

If a boarding stay beyond 24 hours has to be terminated due to unacceptable behaviour, we will refund any full days remaining on the booking following collection of the dog, However this may be subject to the following monetary deductions.

Damage caused to property requiring repair or deep clean

Loss of immediate earnings, due to having to cancel or delay another booking, for either safety reasons until your dog is collected, or personal injury caused requiring medical treatment

Transport costs, should your dog need to be moved by us.

A day care booking which has to be terminated will not be refunded and may incur costs as detailed above.

You may be requested to pay any additional costs incurred.

Altering bookings

We are licensed to look after 5 dogs plus Lenny,  Therefore we cannot guarantee availability, should you later want to change your dates after making your booking and paying your non refundable deposit.

This would be considered a cancellation on your part, should you then not wish to proceed with the original booked dates.

Amending dates is particularly difficult during the peak summer months. Please be certain of your dates required including the collection and drop off times.

Drop off and pick up times

Pick up and drop off times must be within sociable hours. We will accept drop off for boarding up until 1300. This is so your dog can enjoy a walk, dinner, relax and settle before bedtime. Collection time must be before 1800 hours.  When choosing your dates, you may need to book extra nights either side of your holiday to accommodate this.

For Day care bookings we will accept dogs from 0700 to 0930 and Collection by 1800 hours

If you are late dropping off, your collection time remains as originally specified. We take bookings based on the arranged times and may have another dog arriving to take the space, meet and greets planned or simply our own personal commitments to attend to.

REGISTRATION FORMS AND CONSENTS

All relevant paperwork including consent form and registration form must be completed and returned to Lenny’s Friends prior to attendance for any booking. A physical signature is required on the consent form, which can be forwarded as scanned document or photo, then original document brought with your dog.

For Boarding Bookings, Please contact your vet in advance to inform them that Lenny’s friends (Sarah Gayton) will be caring for your dog whilst you are away and that you have consented to me being able to authorise treatment on your behalf, if you are not immediately contactable.

If your vet is unable to see your dog in an emergency and an alternative vet is visited, please authorise your vet to release your dogs medical record to them, particularly in the case of any longer term health issue or if a course of treatment has began. Please update us or forward an email from your vet to show they have been notified.

It is your responsibility to ensure that any changes to registration details or consents are communicated to Lenny’s Friends prior to any new booking.

Illness and injury

If your dog is unwell or injured prior to boarding or daycare, you must inform Lenny’s friends. Any conditions considered infectious, life threatening or requiring specialised recuperative care, that would place additional demand on us and affect our abilities to care for other dogs present, will be cancelled and deposit retained. Depending on circumstances, we will consider moving the deposit to a future booking.

We are happy to consider administering medications/completing observations for any other non serious/non infectious condition. This must be discussed and agreed with us prior to any attendance.

You are responsible for any Vet bills incurred by seeking treatment for your dog during it’s stay with us.

Emergency contacts

Please ensure your emergency contacts are aware they have been nominated and available to look after your dog if required during the time you are away. It is your responsibility to keep these contacts up to date and inform Lenny’s Friends of any changes.

Your emergency contact’s should be located within a maximum of two hour’s travel to Lenny’s Friends, in order to collect your dog promptly. Ideally they should have their own car.

If your emergency contact is unable or unwilling to collect your dog. We reserve the right to find alternative accommodation for your dog that you will accept responsibility for paying for.

Should an advance payment be required by this venue from us, we will deduct this from any partial refunds that may have been applicable (see payments and refunds) and invoice you for any additional costs.
